Esteban Banda

Technical Director, PEO Cyber
Defense Information Systems Agency

Profile

Mr. Esteban Banda is the technical director for the Program Executive Office Cyber, within the Defense Information Systems Agency. In this role, he supports the acquisition leadership and program managers responsible for delivering Department of Defense-wide, enterprise IT capabilities. These capabilities enable the operation, security, and defense functions of the DoD Information Network.

Before his current position, Banda led PEO Cyber’s identity management and public key infrastructure enablement teams, which underscore DoD's commitment to ensuring secure and efficient digital identity practices. He assumed this role after a lengthy tenure as a contractor supporting the risk management directorate at DISA, where the highlights of his impacts lay in architectural risk analysis and the publication of hundreds of secure technical implementation guides for the department.

Banda’s cybersecurity and technical background also spans years of support to the cybersecurity service provider mission. There, he managed separate teams responsible for CSSP infrastructure and CSSP analysis around the globe. Banda assumed this role after a decade of hands-on administration and engineering of solutions for endpoints, servers, mobile devices, and various network types. His hands-on experience is highlighted by a two-year stint at the fast-paced, Harley-Davidson manufacturing facility in York, Pennsylvania, where he began his career in IT. Banda is also an Army veteran, serving in the Reserve for 16 years.
