CYBER SURVIVABILITY IN A NUTSHELL: In 2017, the Joint Staff added Cyber Survivability (cybersecurity and cyber resilience) as part of the System Survivability Key Performance Parameter (SS-KPP) for Joint system acquisitions. This was directed by the Deputy Secretary of Defense in response to Operational Test & Evaluation findings of multiple weapon systems with the same “dirty dozen” high risk vulnerabilities every year.
