    MILFORD, Conn. -- April 6, 2016 -- Thinklogical, a global manufacturer of secure, high performance KVM and video switching solutions, announced today that retired U.S. Army Gen. Walter L. “Skip” Sharp, former commander of the ROK/U.S. Combined Forces, the U.S. forces, and the U.N. forces in Korea, has joined the Thinklogical Defense and Intelligence Advisory Board.

    The purpose of the Thinklogical Defense and Intelligence Advisory Board is to foster solution innovation while deepening the company’s global relationship with government, military, intelligence and homeland security customers.

    “The best way to ensure mission readiness is to equip the warfighter and their support infrastructure with the right tools and information needed for the job,” said Sharp. “The ability to quickly analyze and distribute video and data for faster decision making plays an increasingly important role in maintaining our national security profile.     About Gen. Walter L. (Skip) Sharp
    Gen. Walter L. (Skip) Sharp graduated from West Point in 1974 and was commissioned an Armor officer. He has earned a Master of Science degree in Operations Research and System Analysis from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; and is a graduate of the Armor Basic Course, the Field Artillery Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.

    Sharp’s command positions include armor Company Commander 1st Battalion, 67th Armor, 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas; Squadron Commander 1st Squadron, 7th U.S. Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood Texas; Regimental Commander 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, Louisiana; Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud, South Korea; and Division Commander, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. He commanded troops in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti, and SFOR’s Multinational Division (North) in Bosnia.

    Sharp has served in the Directorate of Combat Developments at Fort Knox, Kentucky, the Armor/Anti-Armor Special Task Force, and the Armored System Modernization Office at the Pentagon. He has had four assignments at the Pentagon on the Joint Staff. He was the Deputy Director, J5 for Western Hemisphere/Global Transnational Issues; the Vice Director, J8 for Force Structure, Resources, and Assessment; the Director for Strategic Plans and Policy, J5; and the Director of the Joint Staff.  

    Sharp retired from the United States Army as a four-star general in September 2011, last serving as Commanding General, United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, U.S. Forces Korea (UNC/CFC/USK) from 2008 to 2011.

    Velocity Series is First System with Both KVM and Video Matrix Switching Capabilities Accredited for Use by DoD

    MILFORD, Conn. -- Feb. 23, 2015 -- Thinklogical, a global manufacturer of secure, high performance KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) extension and switching systems for visual computing applications, today announced that U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities (UC) Approved Product List (APL) approval of the Thinklogical Velocity Closed Video Matrix Switching Solution Rel. 4 TN 1324203 as a Video Distribution System (VDS) has been granted.

    The UC APL provides a consolidated list of products that are approved for purchase by the U.S. Department of Defense. In order to be placed on the UC APL, products must be evaluated and achieve certification for information assurance (IA) and interoperability (IO) by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) by meeting the critical requirements of the Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2013. Cybersecurity testing was completed by the U.S. Navy Space and Naval War System Command (SPAWAR)-led IA test teams. The Thinklogical solution achieved Interoperability (IO) certification from the JITC on Feb. 2, 2015.

    With this certification, Thinklogical Velocity products become the first system with both KVM and video matrix switching capabilities to be placed on the UC APL under the Video Distribution System (VDS) category. Velocity products have previously been accredited to Common Criteria EAL4, TEMPEST SDIP 27 Level B, and NATO NIAPC Evaluation Scheme: GREEN.
